Activity Report: South Direction JMI Events

Just Move It SOUTH DIRECTION events were scheduled from June 2nd - June 23 and was held in 7 communities. We had many people come out to different events and walk, run, or ride bikes. There was many different age groups represented from the babies all the way to the elders. Each new participant received a free tshirt and at some events there was health screenings. People were also able to receive a stamp on their shirt to help them show where they have been and also they signed a thank you card that was given to the chapter to thank them for providing fruits and the place to host the event. Participants who participated in 6 events received a umbrella. Overall we had 2,724 participants with 1,373 participants who attended 1 event and 1,351 who came to 2 or more events, of this number 110 participants earned their umbrella for coming to 6 events. At the 7 events we had new registrants and returning participants, at T'iis Tsoh Tsikaad (Burnham) Chapter we had 210 participants (73 New, 137 Returning), Sheepsprings Chapter 340 participants (191 New, 149 Returning), Newcomb Chapter 445 participants (228 New, 217 Returning), Toadlena/Two Grey Hills Chapter 451 participants (217 New, 234 Returning), Sanostee Chapter 504 participants (303 New, 201 Returning), Red Valley Chapter 352 participants (155 New, 197 Returning) and Cove Chapter 422 participants (206 New, 216 Returning). Best Features:
The best part of the events was seeing so many people attending as families and getting out there and being active. People were excited to receive their next step incentive of an umbrella.
Creative Features:
We have participants who come to more than one event during the summer and they can earn a next step incentive, which is an umbrella, by coming to 6 events.
Future Plans:
We plan on continuing JMI events in the community until the end of Just Move It in July, after those events we will continue with Keep On Movin' It events during the fall, winter and spring months.
