Program: Four Tribes Walking Club

Walking

It is a 100 mile walking club over three months. Participants have to at least walk one mile, five days a week. Small incentives are given at each 25 miles and a T-shirt at 100 miles.

Lummi, Nooksack, Swinomish, Upper Skagit

Walking occurs at fitness centers or in community.

Program Purpose:
Our purpose is to engage inactive community members in regular physical activity that is sustainable once the fitness intervention has ended.

Program Key Features:
Each of the four tribal sites has a designated fitness coordinator who is responsible for marketing, recruiting, and administering the walking program. The Health Board provides activity forms and incentives.

Most Excited About:
Most proud of participants that have lost weight because of increased fitness. Also is nice to see our t-shirt promoting fitness worn in communities.
