Funded by the Healthy Heart Initiative, Journey of the Heart is a program offered through Indian Health Council's Community Health Department. The mission of this program is to promote cardiovascular wellness among diabetic tribal members. An array of JOH activities include: group exercise classes, cooking demonstrations, individualized one-on-one fitness training and nutrition consultation, home visitation, monthly educational events, fun run/walks, healthy food cook-offs and more

Community:
Indian Health Council serves all 9 consortium tribes located in the greater North San Diego County area: Pala, Pauma, Inaja Cosmit, Rincon, San Pasqual, La Jolla, Mesa Grande, Santa Ysabel, and Los Coyotes. In addition there are many other tribes represetned from outside of the consortium that have equal access to JOH program activities.
