Walking

Participants are asked to log daily steps, any physical activities, plus intake of vegetables, fruits,and water

Tribes Involved:
Mono, Tachi, Chukchansi, Choinumni

Location:
Community
Anywhere, alone or in groups. Home videos, treadmills, in gyms, at parks, rancheria roads, schools. Some rancherias have weekly small group walking sessions.

Program Purpose:
The purpose is to set weekly goals to increase physical activities and improve nutrition.

Program Key Features:
Includes monthly gatherings providing encouragement, incentives for turning in logs and setting goals: diabetes prevention education; and a healthy meal. Encouraging participants to add 200 steps at more each week.

Most Excited About:
Rewarding all efforts at increasing physical activities and improve nutrtion.

Program Partners:
We are buying shoes from Nike this year. Trying to involve TANFl groups and Head Start.
